Tri-golf Competition is a Multi Academy Trust Family Affair
120 pupils from 10 Primary Academies in the Astrea Academy Trust competed last week to be crowned Astrea Active Tri Golf Champions 2019. The event was organised by Totally Runable as part of our ongoing “Astrea Active” project, heading up Astrea’s PE, Sport and Physical Activity Strategy. It was a real family affair, with the competition hosted at Astrea Academy Dearne with help from Year 9 Astrea Academy Dearne PE students and Golf student volunteers based at Astrea Academy Woodfields. All in all over 165 Astrea pupils and staff were involved in the day.
After 2 rounds on 8 golf-inspired stations the winners were Gooseacre Primary Academy, based in Barnsley.
“Astrea Active” is a programme of support offered by the Totally Runable Team to the Multi Academy Trust, including PE Conference CPD to its 18 primary PE Co-ordinators, as well as trust-wide and regional competitions, flagship Olympics Days, elite sporting visits and support with PE, sport and physical activity strategy. Fitness benchmarking of students adds to the data and analysis tools available to them. Along with bespoke support to PE Coordinators and Senior Leadership, the Totally Runable team support schools to deliver the highest standards of (and be Ofsted-ready when it comes to) PE, sport and physical activity.
Next up for the schools is a 2-day KS1 and KS2 Olympics Day competition at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, as well as a review of fitness benchmarking data and positive impact of initiatives schools have had in place across the academic year.
