20th Jan 2016 - Work it out - Reducing work related stress is key to weight management

January 2016

According to new research published in the International Journal of Obesity, stressed office workers put on a pound more each year than their chilled colleagues. Over time this can add up to a real problem for employees and the companies they work for.

It is estimated that between 75% and 90% of all doctor’s visits are for stress related issues, with stress linked not only to anxiety, depression and headaches, but to problems including high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, skin conditions, asthma and arthritis.

Employee wellbeing is, not surprisingly, moving up the agenda for companies. Sickness absence alone is estimated to cost UK businesses 175m each year.
