19th December 2015 - England is a nation of runners!
Sport England has released its latest figures for participation in sport in England. And the good news is more of us than ever are running regularly. 2.45 million people over the age of 14 now take part in running or athletics each week, with the number of regular female runners now topping 1 million for the first time.
Totally Runable's Emily Freeman welcomed the news, "It's great that more people are getting out and running regularly - 7 million people have been for at least one run in the last year, which is brilliant. Running is a sport that is relatively easy to fit into our weekly routine even when we have limited time and the benefits are huge". There is however still a long way to go, "these results show that 50% of adults in the country are regularly participating in sport, which means that 50% of adults are not, for a variety of reasons. We'd love to help more people change that and get more active and we're working with companies to do just that".
